Job Description What did you do and what were you hoping to achieve?
1 meeting clients I was hoping to achieve a very successful product however I was aware that I would face quite a lot of challenges when designing it and needed examples of similar work that has been created.
2 discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job To make the product I had to research the market and gather different ideas to fulfil the requirements of the job.
3 estimating the time required to complete a job To get the work done you have to figure out what resources you need and how much time you have to complete the job.
4 Research – technology In order to make the product I had to research the technology and services I was going to use to make that the product.
5 Research – technology companies To make the product I had to research different companies to see what they are doing and get ideas.
6 Ideas development Doing research into different technology and companies gave me ideas about what is trending and what the customers are looking for in these days.
7 providing quotes for clients To give the clients a quote I made a sheet which states price for all the products and services using that it will give the total cost.
8 developing designs Developing designs is a great way to find out what works and what doesn’t. Getting a range of ideas helps decide which one is the best one to use.
9 Ideas development
  • Creation.Brainstorming is the key to concept creation
  • Assessment
  • Planning
  • Development
  • Testing
  • Launch
11 produce new ideas I came up with new ideas that were niche in the market these ideas were adding a scrolling effect to the website where when you scroll down the website the images move into their place.
12 produce new concepts Producing new concepts I looked at what ideas I could use that wouldn’t cost me anything and will give the website overall a very good look.
14 using innovation ideas I thought to myself I shouldn’t use a layout of a website that is created by other people so created my own way of editing my website by in things like flexi shape text boxes, images and using a scroll website which gave the website a bit of an animation and a modern look.
15 Illustration new designs I created my images and resize to the correct the pixels so it fits the website rows where you add the image.
18 presenting finalised ideas After I had completed the website I presented it and I got really good feedback from the class.
19 presenting concepts to clients I presented a range of ideas to my class and my teacher and asked them which idea will work the best.
20 Feedback with client I had feedback from my classmates and asked them what works and what doesn’t doing this I was able to make a pretty successful website.

Unit 2: Present the business plan and obtain feedback

Business plan feedback methods

Collecting customer feedback is a time consuming process. Research suggests that companies can obtain feedback through the following methods.

Surveys or forms

You could use a printed feedback form or survey and place this in a customer facing area of your business, such as the reception or sales counter. You should clearly explain what your thoughts are on the business, product and service.

Social media channels

You should use social media to interact with customers for example you can post questions and answers about your product and ask people for their feedback. You should also use tools and apps such as multimedia apps to set up polls and post on multiple social media sites at once.

Feedback via phone or email

Look at the ways customers contact your business and consider whether it may be an appropriate way for them to give their feedback. For example, you could set up a business phone number (ideally toll free) or a customer service email address for customers to call or email if they have complaints or feedback.

Review customer data

To gain insights on your customers, preferences and trends.

A company may be already collecting statistics and analytics that may be useful for identifying how it can provide better service to meet the needs of your customers. For example, the sales data may show that the customer numbers increase over lunch.

The method you choose will probably depend on your customer base and the type and size of your business.

Using customer feedback

It’s important to use feedback it can improve the way the company performs massively and customer trends can help meet the business it’s financial goal.

Most importantly, don’t forget to respond and thank your customers for taking the time to provide you with their feedback. It’s a good idea to follow-up with them to let them know their feedback was useful and how it helped you to improve your business.

Give the customer response when they have completed the feedback. The customer will appreciate if the company says to them their feedback was useful.

If the company has implemented suggestions based on customer feedback, such as changing their menu or store layout for example, seek follow up feedback from the customers that made the suggestions. This is a good way to check that the company has met their expectations, and ensure that they have correctly addressed a customer need or want to improve your business.

Unit 01 Collaborative work schedule

Prepare and maintain a work schedule. Prepare and maintain a work schedule to meet the requirements of the commercial brief. Upload your work schedule name this ‘work schedule Unit 1’ All work completed needs to be unloaded onto a WordPress blog

Project manager duties Answer
o    Develop a project plan

The project plan we created was that set out the following project plan:

Define the target audience, does people who would be interested in the portfolio

Define roles and responsibilities.

Set design goals and production objectives.

Create a sitemap for the project.

Set a deadline

o    Assign tasks to project team members

Assign a task for the project teams

Brainstorm everything that needs to get done

Categorise tasks into groups

Create a website structure

Assign responsibilities

o    Lead and manage the project team

The best way to lead the team is to help guide your team through the project and try to take as much pressure off of them.

Make time to lead: As a team leader you need to be visible to the team and available to support them.

Get to know your team: Leadership is all about how you influence your team to achieve its objectives something you’ll struggle to do if you don’t get to know your team members and what makes them click.

Communicate: Once your team is up and running, it’s important to keep the communication going to build relationships and assess progress. Plus, you’ll get more engagement from team members if they see you investing time in them and showing interest in their activities.

Lead by example: Be open, honest and passionate. Treat everyone on the team fairly, with respect and without favouritism and you’ll find those behaviours returned

Reward the good and learn from the bad: Be quick to recognise a good performance and reward it where appropriate.

Delegate: Trust your team to do its job. Being team leader doesn’t mean you’re there to do other people’s work for them.

Be decisive: Don’t procrastinate. Grab the nettle when you need to.

Learning new software skills I learnt new software skills by using the WordPress Software I learn things like the themes and how you can install multiple of them into your WordPress and decide which one is best for your website.

I also learnt about installing Plugins and in fact they are one of the most crucial things you must know since there are different things you can do with it like add a social media icon link or add a shopping cart icon, they are basically the things that makes your website a website.

Working as part of a team 1.    Understanding the end goal

2.    Identify clear roles

3.    Collaborate

4.    Recognise interdependencies

5.    Ask questions

6.    Communicate

7.    Break it down

8.    Look at the past.

9.    Look to the future

Unit:4 copyright laws in animation.

What are copyright laws?

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, which is the current copyright law which allows the creator of the product to control the way their product can be used for example Broadcast and public performance, copying, adapting, issuing, renting and lending copies to the public. In most cases the maker of the product should be identified as the author.

When someone breaks the copyright law and uses their material without their permission even if it’s small amount of their work or all of it.

Economic rights:

Economic rights give the owner of the property an advantage to gain money from their work. They can do this by selling the rights of their work or giving other people rights to use it.

The owner of the property has a right to object the following:

Reproduction

Reproduction of the product means by reproducing someone else’s work either by scanning, photocopying, handwriting or recording someone else’s music. However, the copyright law prevents this from happening and if this does occur than it would be acted upon.

Rental and lending

This covers renting or lending copies of a work to the public. For example, renting from a video store or loaning a CD from a library.

Communication to the public

This covers communication of a work to the public by electronic transmission. This would include broadcasting a work or putting it on the internet.

How does copyright work?

If you are using your own work and creating something out if that is totally upon yourself. However, if someone else has used your work to create something that they want to make you can do something about it for example suing them.

If you are using someone else’s work you always have to ask for permission otherwise there will be consequences. Some authors display there work on website’s such as Behance or you tube but you will always have to ask permission because it’s on the internet that doesn’t mean that you can use it. Some animators might request money if you want to use their work.

Copyright only covers something such as an animation if it has been created, or in the process of making.

You can always use works of other creators for inspiration, motivation and ideas however breaching any points that I have mentioned above such as copying there work or idea, story means that you are in violation of copying there work.

Why should you copyright you work?

A registration of a copyright creates a record of your copyright so if you had the work up on the internet and took it down and someone uses your work if you have the record of registration you can sue them however if you don’t then it will be tough case to prove who made the work. Before suing someone you always have to register your work before so yo can sue someone for copyright infringement.

Conclusion:

In conclusion you should never use someone else’s work without their permission and always check if you are going to use their work if their copyright has ran out normally a copyright lasts till the creators death and additional 70 years. If someone else uses your work make sure you have registered you work so you can do something about with a registration if will be hard to tell if the work is yours. Copyright owners deserve compensation for the creation of their works. Copy protection is the simple solution to this problem. More complex solutions involve changes in the relationships between content creators, distributors, advertisers and consumers.

Unit:9 self assessment

Unit 09 Video in interactive media

2.1 Prepare and maintain a work schedule for the development of a video in interactive media

Scene Shot Description Audio Description Why did you use this shot
1 View of earth from the outside. Storm I used this shot to show the outside of the earth and then move in to earth. The shot is a clear statement of purpose, which the audience would understand.
2 View of the sea and city. Water waves I used this shot to show a part of the city with the sea and sunlight, its shows a rich variety of supporting information.
3 View of modern buildings in the city in sunlight. People talking and cars I used this shot to show the modern part of the city and afternoon. Information in the video contributes to understanding the project’s main idea.
4 Sunset Boat and people talking. This scene was used to give the viewer a sense of a time change between day and night also the transitions of how the day life is compared to the night life.
5 View of the sea, the bridge and yachts at night. Movement of water I used this shot to show the night life of the city. The content includes a clear statement of purpose or theme
6 Traffic and people crossing the road at night. Traffic and people talking This shot was to show another aspect of the night life. The content includes a clear point of view with a progression of ideas and supporting information.
7 Overhead view of a building from a drone Wind Using this shot it shown different parts of the city and how they are during the night time. This gives a clear understanding to the viewer of what the idea of the video is.
8 Video taken from an apartment when it’s raining. Raining and water drops. Using this show I presented a part of night where it’s raining and to show weather change. This shot describes to the viewer of how the weather changes during the night time.
9 Fast forwarded video of a sunrise Water Using this shot it has shown a time of the day that has changed in a logical order. Events and messages are presented in a logical order.
10 Video of the ground whilst it’s raining in the morning. Water drops and rain. With this shot I was able to describe the after affect of the raining at night and it gave a clear idea to the viewer of the transition of the day.

Explore a range of ideas for the development of a video In the early stages I had an idea of doing a video about nature and animals. However I explored a huge range of different themes and the idea of presenting the city felt like a good idea. Going along with this idea I started exploring a range of other different ideas such as giving the theme a story. I started the video of by showing the morning and then started to present the night time. After a while I also started to discover other ideas and put in an idea of a weather change. I added rain to the night time and the sound effects played a major role in it as it gave the reader more sense of what was going on. Changing the scene back tor morning by displaying a sunrise the video shown how the weather was after what happened in the night. The weather and the change of day night were presented in a chronological order to help the viewer understand the transition.
Experiment with a range of techniques The techniques I used demonstrate a compelling look to the video and provide motivating content that hooks the viewer from the beginning of the video and keeps the audience’s attention. In the beginning I changed to opacity of the video from 0 to a 100% which give it an opening effect of the video after that I used a fade to go on to the next scene to make the video seem smooth and professional.
Editing video The tape is edited with only high quality shots remaining. Video moves smoothly from shot to shot because of how I have placed the videos together. Varieties of transitions are used to assist in communicating the main idea and smooth the flow from one scene to the next.
Edit video using appropriate post-production techniques I was really happy the way the video turned out. All of the scenes were just long enough to make the viewer understand what the video was about. Also the pace of the video was just right to make the viewer understand what was going on.

Unit 08 Typefaces and typographic control

2.1 Prepare and maintain a work schedule for the development of typography in motion graphics

List the scene and shot description / audio description. Then write a short description of Why did you use this typography / effect

Scene Shot Description Audio Description Why did you use this typography / effect
1 Opening Scene

Ed Sheeran Shape Of You.

Ed Sheeran Shape of you. In the opening scene I used an effect where my text is moving to the beat of the music. I used this effect to get the audience hooked on to the video and they will want to discover what happens next.
2 The club isn’t the best place to find a lover so the bar is where I go. Ed Sheeran Shape of you. Later on in the video I changed the position of my text by brining it in from left, right, up and down also I used rotation to make the text readable. I used this effect to engage the audience and make them read the text with almost like a challenge to read it.
3 Me and my friends at the table doing shots
Drinking fast and then we talk slow
Ed Sheeran Shape of you. I have rotated 3d text which makes it interesting to look at and make the viewers carry on reading the text and listen to the song.
4 Come over and start up a conversation with just me
And trust me I’ll give it a
Ed Sheeran Shape of you. I have text appearing as the camera moves horizontally. I do this to add a new effect to my video and give it a change so the viewers find it interesting and engaging.
5 Now take my hand Ed Sheeran Shape of you. The text presents a short snappy text for a line that is very short I use this effect to increase the intensity of the video.
6 Stop Ed Sheeran Shape of you. I change the colour of the text so it looks different and displays a warning sign for the word stop it has the colour red.
7 Take my hand, stop, put Van the Man on the jukebox
And then we start to dance,
Ed Sheeran Shape of you. I present my text in a fast snappy way because of the song speed and the text is bigger so it’s easier to read. The animation consists of rotation and movement which makes it more interesting and

3.3 Evaluate typographic control in interactive media

Explore a range of ideas for the use of typefaces and typography I explored a range of different ideas such as using 3d, animated and moving text. I used adobe after effects to make my kinetic typography project.  I looked on the internet how other people have created their kinetic typography project and used similar techniques but I improved on it and made it different by moving my text in a different way. I used a very modern typography that would look interesting and appealing to look at.
Finished work After I finished my work I was really happy with it because they song lyrics and the song was synchronized together which was a relief and the techniques that I used turned out to look  really good as I got a feedback from my teacher and class mates.
Evaluate typefaces and typographic control In the intro of my video I used a code that will move the text with the beat of the music. Later on in the song I had text come in from up, down, left and right which looked really good but then I developed my ideas and decided I would use 3d movement as well as moving text. I had my text rotated from up to down as if the text flipped but in a way that it was realistic and also I had my text moving as the text was rotating so I could move on the next line of the lyrics.
